MORE THAN CARBON FIBRE WEAVE
Prototypes. Carbon fibre weave. Finite element analysis. 3D modelling, blah, blah, blah…
We don’t want to bore you with the details but we think you’ll be interested in this.
Stealth Air Carbon is our elite-level carbon fibre construction process. The carbon fibre which makes up an ARID frame is designed, cut and assembled in such a manner that we’ve managed to create the most comfortable, the most vertically compliant fully rigid frame to ever come out of our workshops.
And to top it all off, regardless of its gravel bike label, ARID meets and exceeds the same strict ISO standards as all of our full-on mountain bikes. You see, lateral stiffness and power transfer don’t have to be incompatible with small-bump compliance and comfort.
WATER BOTTLES WHEREVER YOU WANT
When it comes down to it, gravel biking is a very personal discipline. If you’re the one deciding how you want to ride your ARID, you should to be the one configuring it too. You have the traditional bottle mounts in the main frame triangle, but there are also bottle mounts under the downtube near the bottom bracket and up to three alternative bottle mounting points on each fork leg. There are even bottle-mount threads on top of the top tube near the headtube! Every ARID has the ability to be unique, it’s up to you to put your stamp on yours.
4 BUILDS, SAME ARID SPIRIT
Four builds make up the ARID range.
ARID CARBON, ARID CARBON R, ARID CARBON RR, and ARID CARBON RR SL as the top-of-the-range build which is also available as a frame-only option.
We want you to find your own personal ARID, based on the same Stealth Air Carbon frame and fork combo. You can go for Shimano on the ARID CARBON, or wireless SRAM on the other 3 builds.
Mavic supplies wheels with 45mm Maxxis Reaver tyres throughout the range, except for the range-topping RR SL which boasts the spectacular Zipp 303 XPLR wheels and 45mm Goodyear tyres.
COMPLIANCE AND STIFFNESS COMBINED
During the Stealth Air Carbon fabrication process we optimize every tube and every joint to best meet the design criteria, whether to increase stiffness and responsiveness from the bottom bracket or headtube areas, or to improve compliance from the rear triangle for better grip and comfort.
The stiffness and responsiveness of the main frame is specially noticeable when you put the power down and lends itself to greater pedalling efficiency and acceleration on hardpack.
Altogether, the compliance of the seat stays combined with the stiffness of the frame equal greater average speed over unforgiving terrain. It's something you’ll notice from the very first time you turn the cranks.
CARRY-ON: NEXT GEN HAND LUGGAGE
Riding the Arid is like writing your own screenplay. Racing, adventure, singletrack or the daily commute, Arid is going to be there with you whatever the script; and when you need to take something with you you’ve got internal frame storage for the first time ever on a Mondraker.
Whether it be basic tools, a bite to eat, documents or clothing, Mondraker’s ‘Carry-On’ system has you covered. Accessible through a watertight, dustproof cover on the downtube, you can carry the essentials safely, securely and quietly.
CARRY-ON
Three custom-made, internal yet easily accessible, velcro fasteners keep things neat and tidy and mean that you won’t need additional packs or accessories for those shorter trips.
One of the bags is specifically designed to carry a spare tube and tyre levers. Another for a mini-pump or CO2 cannisters, and the third for a multitool… or… you can use them for whatever fits your needs better on the day.
THE DEVIL’S IN THE DETAIL
We’ve really gone to town on the details. ARID has HHG internal cable guidance, a UDH derailleur hanger for stiffness and shifting precision, six water-bottle mounts you can use to various ends, and generous frame and fork dimensions for up to 50mm wide tyres for riders looking to tackle the roughest of terrains. The bike also features the all-new Mondraker ‘Carry-On’ downtube storage system so you can carry your belongings without the need for packs that would otherwise spoil the looks of your ARID.
