Celebrating Greg Minnaar – A Limited-Edition GM Sight SE MX Frame

Sleek, understated, and filled with memorable moments from his career.

To celebrate Greg Minnaar’s incredible career and achievements in DH, and his new chapter as Norco Race Division Team Director, we made 23 limited-edition Greg Minnaar Sight SE MX frames with a special-edition paint job. One for each of his 23 World Cup wins, they’re finished with subtle details showcasing his South African heritage, and design elements of meaningful moments and achievements from his career.

Norco Bike Designer, Samuel Gauthier, was tasked with a tough challenge – how do you sum up the achievements of one of the most decorated mountain bikers of all time? He wanted to honour Greg, while maintaining the finely-tuned design lines of the bike. And, it had to look fast.

There are callouts to Greg’s heritage throughout. The base pattern is a South Africa shaped camo print. The borderline of South Africa forms smaller mosaic shapes, which have been grouped into a larger silhouette of the country and repeated to cover the frame. With a carbon finish and understated details, the frame looks black, with details appearing in certain lights, and foil decals adding a textural element.

You can trace the path of Greg’s career throughout this bike frame, going all the way back to when he was a kid. When he was 12, Greg decided to jump a row of cars on his dirt bike for a school fundraiser. He ended up getting brought into the South African Royal Show where he would jump 10 or 11 cars, eventually getting up to 16. There can be no doubt these were the training grounds that led to his “Fresh Prince of Big Air” nickname when he hit the international scene later on. A “Just Getting Started” decal with the jump and row of cars can be found on the inside surface of the chainstay to commemorate his big air origins.

It would be impossible to fit all the incredible details from Greg’s 28-year racing career onto one bike frame, but we have distilled them down to what he has shared as the most important milestones and moments. The resulting frame is understated, with flashes of flair. The Norco Sight comes alive the faster you go, and the Limited-Edition Greg Minnaar frame will inspire you with his legacy every time you ride.
